Our unique approach involves clinicians in training who work under the guidance of seasoned professionals with 20+ years of experience. This dynamic blend offers clients the advantage of receiving high-quality therapeutic support while benefiting from the fresh perspectives brought by our trainees. Supervision ensures that every session is conducted with the utmost care and proficiency, creating a supportive environment for clients to explore their concerns. Sofía Hernández Gómez, M.Ed., LPC Associate, supervised by Marie Luna, M.Ed, LPC-S

Hi, my name is Sofía Hernández Gómez, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, born in Mexico City. I consider myself a bicultural person, as I was raised throughout my life in both countries Mexico, and United States, this has given me the ability to empathize and understand the acculturation process. In 2013, I graduated from Universidad del Valle de Mexico with my bachelor’s in psychology and completed my master’s in counseling from West Texas A&M University in 2022.

In my professional background experience, I’ve had the honor working in psychiatric hospitals and non-profit organizations in individual and group modalities. Facilitating programs of grief, survivors of suicide, battering intervention and prevention in domestic violence that has prepared me to engage with different populations.

I enjoy working with children, adolescents, and adults through art therapy, as a transformative and insightful tool to the inner workings of the mind and emotional state.Having a creative visual outlet to express your experiences, offering a space to start recognizing your strengths, develop self-awareness, improve social skills, address unresolved conflicts, increase self-esteem, leading to empowerment.

One of my goals as a therapist is to create a safe environment where anyone can feel comfortable to express, through the feeling of unconditional positive regard, empathy, and compassion, to start the healing process and endure the hardships of life by building resilience, cultivating new coping skills, exploring the connections between the mind, body, and emotions. Another goal of mine is to advocate for minorities groups, providing support for a population whose language barrier can get in the way to acquire help.

I truly believe that everyone has the ability to achieve growth, to heal and expand their potential to become their best possible self’s. It would be my honor to navigate and explore all those uncharted places next to you.

¡Hablo español! Me encantaría acompañarte durante tu proceso de afrontar cualquier adversidad.

Jenn Harris, LPC Associate supervised by Marie Luna, M.Ed, LPC-S

Hello! My name is Jenn Harris, and I graduated with a master's degree Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Texas Tech in May 2025. I earned my BA in English in 2010, also from Tech.

For past 14 years, I have been a high school teacher here in Lubbock, primarily teaching English and psychology. As I move into this new facet of my career, I am looking forward to continuing my work with adolescents, and would welcome the chance to work with their families as well.

Additionally, as a teacher, I am well-versed, both personally and professionally, in the highs and lows of working in a helping profession. I would welcome the opportunity to help anyone navigate the complex emotions involved in creating a healthy work-life balance.

In counseling, I use a variety of counseling techniques and theories including narrative, solution-focused, strengths-based, and systems theories.

I’m looking forward to meeting you and working together to help you begin your journey towards healing in yourself and your relationships.

Karlie Oldham, ACU Grad Intern supervised by Bethany Luna, M.Ed, LMFT-S

Hi, I’m Karlie. I’m a Marriage & Family Therapist Graduate Intern from Abilene Christian University, and I work from a systems perspective because I believe we all grow, struggle, and heal in the context of our relationships and environments. I am passionate about walking alongside individuals, couples, and families as they move through challenges, transitions, and patterns that no longer serve them.

My work includes helping clients improve communication, navigate conflict, strengthen attachment, shift unhelpful family dynamics, and build skills that support healthier connection. I have a heart for single parents—helping them find steadiness, support, and practical tools—and for clients healing from trauma, offering a grounded, compassionate space to rebuild safety and resilience.

Whether supporting partners through relational strain, guiding families toward more effective interaction, or helping individuals understand how their broader system shapes their wellbeing, I want to offer a space for safety of expression. I also enjoy working with college-aged adults who are figuring out identity, independence, stress, and the pressure of “getting it right.”

My hope is to offer a space that feels steady, warm, and collaborative, where you can strengthen your relationships, break old cycles, build resilience, and move toward the version of yourself you want to become.

Karlie is accepting new clients on Monday, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Virginia Monreal, ACU Grad Intern supervised by Bethany Luna, M.Ed, LMFT-S

I am passionate about providing compassionate, developmentally attuned care to children, adolescents, and their families. I strive to create a safe, supportive, and collaborative therapeutic environment where young people feel seen, heard, and valued. I believe that healing and growth happen within the context of safe relationships, and I work to foster a space where youth and caregivers can explore challenges with openness and trust.

My approach is grounded in a systemic and relational lens, recognizing that each individual is shaped by their family, relationships, and broader environment. I enjoy working with individuals, couples and families as they navigate emotional, relational, and developmental transitions, including anxiety, identity development, family dynamics, peer relationships, and life stressors. I integrate evidence-based practices with a strengths-based perspective, helping clients build emotional awareness, resilience, and practical coping skills.

I also incorporate Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) into my work. This approach helps clients identify their existing strengths, resources, and moments when problems feel more manageable. Rather than focusing solely on the problem, SFBT encourages clients to envision what meaningful change looks like and to take small, achievable steps toward that vision. This approach can be especially helpful for individuals managing anxiety, navigating life stressors, and couples experiencing relational conflict, as it supports clients in recognizing their capabilities, improving communication, and building practical strategies that promote lasting change.

I am dedicated to partnering with clients to support meaningful and sustainable change. Through empathy, curiosity, and collaboration, my goal is to empower clients to better understand themselves, strengthen their relationships, and move toward greater confidence and well-being.

Virginia is accepting new clients with on Fridays and Saturdays.

Coaching Versus Therapy

These are two VERY different experiences.  You get to choose what serves you best in your life today.

As a therapist, Bethany listens and uses evidence-based approaches that she's learned in school and in trainings.  It's such valuable work.  We dive deep in the trauma and the pain of the past, and we explore different ways to frame and shape those experiences.  As a therapy client, you will gain psycho-education and knowledge of current research-based practices and be challenged to implement changes in your thoughts, feelings and actions.

As a coach, Bethany is a mirror: reflecting and channeling.  She is a vessel and uses her energetic responses and embodied experiences to support you.  As a coaching client, we focus on upleveling your experience through energetic, embodied practices, accessing your consciousness through accessing the collective healing of the Universe.

Bethany is the same person, but these are two VERY different healing experiences she uses to support you.  As a therapist, Bethany does not discuss religion or spirituality without prompting; however, as a coach, our entire work is focused on accessing the energies of the Universe and ourselves.

Artistic Truths

The logo of Phoenix Moon Healing is in the shape of a moon to signify our connection to the earth and our spirit animals.  It is a call to remember to access the parts of us that the world has quieted with its structure, rules and bullshit.  A call to howl at the moon and access our aligned self that is raw and vulnerable, to bring the yin and the yang of the feminine and masculine energies.  The phoenix signifies our constant evolution, becoming and unbecoming, all the same and all different.  The phoenix is our steady energetic signature of strength as we activate and access our highest self.
