Claire Ramirez-Yocum

Claire Ramirez-Yocum, WTAMU Intern Supervised by Marie Luna, LPC -S
My name is Claire Ramirez-Yocum, and I’m a Clinical Mental Health Counseling
graduate intern at West Texas A&M University. I received my bachelor’s degree in
Human Development and Family Studies from Texas Tech University in 2016, and I’ve
spent my career focused on supporting people through life’s most difficult and
transformative moments.
My passion lies in helping adults who are navigating the lasting effects of trauma,
anxiety, depression, and PTSD. I take a trauma-informed and empathic approach to
counseling, offering a space where you can feel safe, respected, and empowered to
share your story. I believe that healing happens in the presence of compassion,
understanding, and authentic connection.
As a therapist, I want you to feel like you can show up fully—without judgment or fear. I
aim to build a relationship based on trust, where unconditional positive regard and
empathy are always present. Whether you're exploring past pain or learning how to
cope with present challenges, I’m here to support you as you build resilience and move
toward healing.
I work primarily with adults and am committed to providing culturally responsive care. I
understand the importance of feeling seen and validated, and I strive to meet each
client where they are with openness and respect.
In our work together, I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered
Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). These approaches help us explore
thoughts, emotions, and relational patterns so that you can feel more grounded,
capable, and in control of your life.
Outside of the counseling office, I’m a proud West Texas native who finds peace and
inspiration in nature. I love spending time outdoors—whether it’s hiking, exploring new
trails, or heading out on a spontaneous road trip. You can often find me with an iced
coffee in hand, soaking up the sun or planning my next adventure. These quiet,
grounding moments help me recharge and stay connected to the present. I strive to
bring the same sense of balance, authenticity, and meaningful connection into my work
as a counselor, creating a space where clients feel supported and truly seen.
It’s an honor to walk alongside those who are doing the hard work of healing. I aim to
walk alongside each person in their journey, offering presence, hope, and support every
step of the way. If you're ready to start that journey, I’m here with you.
