Heidi Mayes

Heidi Mayes, TTU Intern Supervised by Marie Luna, LPC -S
Hello! My name is Heidi Mayes, and I’m a graduate student at Texas Tech University pursuing my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I’ve proudly called Lubbock home for the past five years, where I also earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2023. My passion for mental health, paired with a strong connection to my community, led me to pursue a career in counseling.
As a counseling intern, I strive to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive space for every client. I’m especially passionate about supporting and advocating for the LGBTQ+ community and believe that every individual deserves compassion, respect, and care.
My clinical interests include working with children, adolescents, and adults, and I bring experience supporting children in foster care and post-adoption, as well as college students navigating life transitions.
My areas of focus include grief, adverse childhood experiences, anxiety, and depression. I approach each client with empathy, authenticity, and a person-centered mindset, encouraging you to share your story in your own time and way. I believe that counseling
is a powerful journey of healing and self-discovery — and it’s an honor to walk alongside you as you grow into your most authentic self.
We all have a story to tell. It would be a privilege to hear yours.
